Burns Night, the annual celebratory tribute to the life, works and spirit of the great Scottish poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796).

Celebrated on, or about, the Bard’s birthday, January 25th, events range from stentoriously formal gatherings of esthetes and scholars to uproariously informal rave-ups of drunkards and louts (we are shooting for the drunkards and louts moniker).

These gatherings adhere, more or less, to some sort of time honored form which includes the eating of a traditional Scottish meal, the drinking of Scotch whisky, and the recitation of works by, about, and in the spirit of the Bard.

Forgoing the Scottish whiskey, our Burns Night will debut our beer and recipe kit, Bubo MacOwl’s Wee Heavy. This is a big beer, clocking in at 9% with complex malty flavors of caramel that is suggestive of a fine dessert.

We will have a few classic Scottish dishes on our small plates menu, including neeps and tatties, bangers, scotch eggs, and sticky toffee pudding!
